About the funder

The LankellyChase Foundation works to promote change which will improve the quality of people's lives. We focus particularly on areas of social need to help the most disadvantaged in our society to fulfil their potential. We are realistic, balancing what we seek to do with all the financial and human resources at our disposal.

Funding Strands

Five main programme areas:

The Arts – promoting the use of the arts by:

  • people with severe mental ill health – arts based charities wishing to offer the best possible standard of arts activities to those in medium and high security psychiatric hospitals.
  • vulnerable , troubled young people (11-21 years) – arts based charities offering the best participatory experience possible aiming to move participants from a negative to positive world view.

Breaking Cycles of Abuse – supporting projects working to beak cycles of abuse and promote safe and protective behaviours.

  • domestic abuse – increasing safety for adults and children – focussing on domestic violence prevention work in black, Asian, minority ethnic and refugee communities and programmes for perpetrators of domestic abuse.
  • rape and sexual violence – assisting male and female victims to recover and make informed life choices – focussing on rape crisis and survivors of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of the young, women in prostitution.

Custody and Community – supporting those affected by, or at risk of, incarceration of different kinds.

  • women offenders – women with multiple vulnerabilities.
  • short-term or remand prisoners with multiple complex needs (including young offenders)
  • immigration detainees.

Free and Quiet Minds – focussing on the needs of the most rejected and ignored supporting:

  • charities promoting recovery and return to society for patients in medium secure and high security hospitals.
  • charities providing mental health services to people from black and minority ethnic communities and those who care for them.
  • organisations endeavouring to achieve a fair and just asylum system.

Local People, Local Places – helping multi purpose community organisations to find long term solutions to local issues and engaging the skills and talents of individuals to transform communities for the benefit of all.

  • Individuals - including students
  • Medical care & medical research
  • Mother & toddler groups/playgroups
  • Museums/galleries
  • Organisations working with particular medical conditions
  • Other grant making organisations
  • Research
  • Sport
  • Work that has already taken place
  • Work which is primarily the responsibility of central or local government, education or health authorities.
