Wales third sector consultation event on Future Jobs Fund - 27 May
20 May 2009On Wednesday 27 May, WCVA is holding a consultation meeting about a major UK Government initiative to create 7,000 new jobs in Wales.
The Future Jobs Fund is a UK-wide programme which has been set up to create jobs for long-term unemployed people, particularly aged 18-24, and is encouraging bids from social enterprises and voluntary organisations.
The Fund will support the UK Government’s guarantee that from 2010 all 18-24 year olds that have been looking for work for over a year will get an offer of a job or training lasting at least six months.
Around £50m has been ear-marked for Wales to fund the costs of employing individuals for 6 months on at least a minimum wage, and a key element of the programme is that the jobs created should provide community benefit.
WCVA is holding a consultative meeting at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday 27 May between 10.30am and 1pm. Any third sector organisation interested in the Fund and finding out how they could be involved can attend the meeting.
To reserve places at the meeting, please contact Mike Richards on 029 2043 1754 or mrichards@wcva.org.uk. To find out more about the Future Jobs Fund, visit www.dwp.gov.uk/futurejobsfund
