The first step is the hardest: climate change for non greens
Thursday 3 December, Venue Cymru, Llandudno

This year’s WCVA annual conference will feature some of Wales’s leading protagonists in the fight against climate change in a bid to get on board those organisations not fully signed up. Politicians, academics, leading third sector figures and inspirational projects will all take the spotlight at the largest annual gathering of the sector in Wales on 3 December.

Llandudno’s Venue Cymru is hosting the event, which has a climate change theme and is aimed particularly at groups that have not yet engaged with the global warming agenda.

The keynote address will be given by Jane Davidson AM, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing, while WCVA Chief Executive Graham Benfield OBE is set to discuss how WCVA can ‘walk the talk’ and provide leadership on climate change to the sector.

Other speakers include Ken Peattie, Professor of Marketing and Strategy at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University; Green Alliance Director Stephen Hale; and Emily Harvey from the Keep Scotland Beautiful project Stirling Going Carbon Neutral.

Workshops showcasing ‘inspiring examples of what the third sector can achieve’ will be run by organisations including Swansea’s Sustainable Lives; the Green Town project in Blaenau Ffestiniog; Cwm Harry Land Trust; the National Federation of Women’s Institutes; the Gwent Energy project and the Centre for Alternative Technology.

The conference, The first step is the hardest: climate change for non greens, will be concluded by a dinner and the presentation of this year’s Network Wales Awards.
