Every organisation, whether from the private, public or voluntary sector, needs to manage their finances successfully in order to achieve long-term sustainability. Voluntary and community organisations can normally locate funds to kick start projects, but often find it difficult to secure funding for ongoing work. Many organisations find themselves ‘trapped’ in the funding cycle and rely on grants or other funding sources.

However, the Third Sector in Wales has recognised this need and is working together to address it. With the help of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, WCVA’s Sustainable Funding Cymru will seek to assist voluntary and community organisations in Wales achieve long-term financial sustainability.

Working in partnership with the Welsh County Voluntary Councils (CVCs) and other umbrella bodies, the initiative will equip organisations with the skills and information to secure and maintain the resources they require in the long-term through diversifying their ‘funding mix’.
